I agree most shooters, especially halo, are pretty boring.

But games like Heavy Rain are showing that games do have the potential to be mature with legitimate storytelling that almost rivals television/film.

Also online play is more then just an escape for people who have "no real friends to play with"(thats like saying music banter is a place for people who have no friends to discuss music with). It means level-sharing in little big planet, downloading music from the rock band store, or down loadable levels or even a continuation to the single player game.
