I think its become pretty popular for people to **** on Lynyrd Skynyrd. Probably because songs like "Sweet Home Alabama" and "Freebird" have become synonymous with fat, dumb rednecks, NASCAR and nasty, flapjack titties being flopped out at Southern Bike Week rallies. That, and it doesn't help (at least from a musician's standpoint) when you allow a ****head like Kid Rock to use the rights to your music (see also: Metallica).

I think that this is undeniably true, but undeserved. Lynyrd Skynyrd was a great ****ing band in their time, and they wrote some great ****ing songs. The memories of their past glory still outshine any blemishes caused by the usage today of the music that they wrote in the 70s. I'm just glad that Ronnie Van Zant, Allen Collins and Leon Wilkeson were all dead before they had to hear Kid Rock violently rape one of their songs (see also: Warren Zevon).

I'm not ashamed to say that I'm still a fan of certain Skynyrd tunes. Namely, "Gimme Back My Bullets" and "Simple Man".
