This also applies to minimum wage. Whenever it is raised the government automatically gets more money, thus the reasons democrats push for it.
In a strong economy their would be no need for minimum wage, wages would never go up (excluding like a pay increase after working there for several months or something) and prices for goods would never go up.

wow, thank you very much for the derrogatory, condecsending response. yes i do understand the problem with this, the problem is that millions of americans who have risked their life in the military (ie. iraq, vietnam etc.) could now be denied pay for overtime hours that they have honestly put in. does that seem fair to you? there is always a need for minimum wage. it's not only an economic issue, its a worker's rights issue. minimum wage is there to keep a fair standard of pay for all citizens, it prevents companies from exploiting their workers for low wages so they can maximize on their profits, that scenario would be good for big businesses yes, but then you wind up with coorporations running institutions running what could compare to a sweatshop in america, and there is no way that you can justify that.
