Personally I didnt think Screaming Trees were very good at all when I first listened to them, I still have the two albums though so will maybe give them another listen.
They just sounded really **** to me but I suppose they probably are better than Nirvana

As for The Melvins- they are more along the lines of Hardcore Punk & to me sound nothing like Grunge. But I suppose they were out around the same time although it kinda gets a bit unsuitable to compare bands from different genres.
Also The Afghan Wigs?? Ive definitely heard the name before.
Are they even grunge though? I think someone told me about them before and said they were really good. Or maybe it was you 2 mins ago when i read your post
