If you really want to go overboard btw, you can buy some threaded inserts and use them to attach the neck. Its a bit of work, but it makes the join much stronger and thusly increases sustain etc.

The kit in the link is exactly what I need anyways so that will work out. And if thats the case with mahogany I may just switch to maple since the sound difference is only slight.
Where should I take the guitar now to check and see for sure if the body can for sure take a non customized fender neck?
