It actually mitigates a ground which isn't explored by either Kyuss or the rest of QOTSA's music. I could probably be convinced otherwise but I think it's a piece of garbage, especially compared to records Homme made before and after (Kyuss self-titled & R are pretty gnarly).
I love LTP, it's such a stark & bare record compositionally. There's only a marginal influence of others' songwriting, Homme wrote 90-95% of the album by himself (and by the sound of it recorded & produced by himself as well). Everybody Knows That You're Insane, Burn the Witch, I Never Came, "You Got a Killer Scene There, Man" are all fantastic. If it weren't for R & Kyuss self-titled it would probably be my favorite record Homme has made.
