But I think that the digital age has had an indelible effect on music, kind of results in less of a personal connection to music. There's no "rockstars" it seems anymore, that term seems to have been taken up by none other than rap stars...

But I see your point, all the big artists of today treading old ground and not doing anything different are going to be forgotten much the way alot of 70's bores are now forgotten (good riddance at that). But the thing is, there wasn't really any retro trend going on during the baby boom generation, no Frank Sinatra revivals (as far as I know), so that's why I think this retro-trend bull**** is unique in that respect
