All we showed him was a picture of Elizabeth Taylor, so he didn't know who it was. It's unfair to call him an uneducated fool.
And maybe he doesn't recognize the name either because he's never been in a situation where he's heard of her. He could easily post a picture or a name of a person you might have not heard of before.
Nobody "should" know that someone is famous, except for maybe The Beatles and Jesus, if only because their influence in popular culture is inescapable.
