I was addicted to Gemmell for quite a while, and my fave is
Echoes of the Great Song.
I have recently been on a heavy non-fiction run, with my most recent aquisitionéfinish being
David G Schwartz`s
Roll the Bones: A History of Gambling.
Very well written book, full of anecdotal stories, an unflinchingly honest study of the human fixation on chance and risk. Easy to read, with a flowing format that moves forward chronologically in a series of engrossingly well-written chapters.
A book I highly recommend to any person with an interest in human nature and cultural trends/foibles.
