Founded in 1987, around the emblematic lead singer Helno, Les Négresses Vertes has been one of the most influential bands of the French alternative scene on the 90's. In 1993, Noël Rota aka Helno, 30 years old, died of an overdose. Since that drama, the combo never have had the same success.
Their music is a funny mix of gypsy guitars, south American music, oriental music and French musette.
