it's all a matter of opinion i suppose, but i think GoF definitely had the proverbial funk, and without their pared-down politicized groove there wouldn't be an FF, i'm 100% positive that Alex Kapranos would tell you the same. I suppose I just find it easier to get behind what GoF stood for, FF do not make me think.

As for the pop angle, this is what I was saying I preferred (I am aware of the fact that guitar-pop goes in cycles because everything has already been done with the medium). All Scottish bands aswell
