i'm thinking more in terms of average teenage rebellion coupled with the fact that even at 3 years old it sounds like the kid is embarrassed by his own name. i like to think he'll likely go as far as possible away from pappy's tastes, like methusela goldstein or something.
on the other hand it's not like adolf / adolph is 'that' uncommon of a name, at least in french areas. it's the apparent focus on the middle name that messes everything up.
as for the title of the thread... should people really be put to death for the ignorance created by the untreated abuse they suffered as children? how would that be any different than the nazi regime that systematically rounded up and killed anyone who didn't score high enough on the aryan checklist?
oh! according to the A-OK politically correct social behavior list giving your child a very unpopular name means we have to shoot you in the face! it's the 'right' thing to do...
