Often times, America does not get involved in the conflict, but instead instigates them, because of cultural/racial misunderstandings and the idea that the western way of life is the best way of life. But, I can think of a handful of issues where America and co. do not get involved enough (look at Africa- aids, famine, genocide, the list goes on). We can't simply neglect third-world countries as hopeless. Something needs to be done, and should have been done decades ago.
It's hard to 'give peace a chance' when there's so much turmoil. Al quada-esque spin-offs are in development, there is talk of Nazi-rejuvination in parts of eastern Europe, the Israel-Palestine chaos zone that has been going on for what seems like forever, terrorism in Russia, and genocide and famine in Africa. This is just an abbreviated list of the global problems, and certainly doesn't even touch all the major issues. One thing man has consistently demonstrated throughout history is that religious and social difference cannot simply be overcome, instead we resort to wars and play "good guy, bad guy" scenarios.
