Most of my favourite bands are from UK/USA for this reason. But I do listen to heaps of Australian music and think it's so much better than a lot of the stuff I hear from the larger countries.

I think a lot of what's underlying this thread is not what country makes the best music but what countries have produced the most successful/ well-promoted bands which make good music...

There is also a glut of inane and dull music being poured out in australia.
A few years ago all we had scene-wise was "Pub-rock" - which basically delineates an AC/DC cover band, nowadays every man and his favourite pet is in an indie-electro band and there is still just as much ****e on the local scene.
