I decided to use this thread instead of making a new one. Sean Avery, shut the f*ck up and take a seat over there.
"Our commissioner hasn't realized that he needs to probably do a better job of marketing the game and certainly some of the players in it," Avery said in an interview with ESPN's Rachel Nichols.
"Nobody cares about Jarome Iginla and guys like that. They're just not exciting enough. They don't bring enough to the game."
Really Avery? and what exactly do you bring to the game that Iginla, and "guys like him" don't? Call me crazy, but I fail to see how a guy with 33 points last season can be calling out a guy with 98 points for "not bringing enough to the game." Now what exactly is it that you can provide for NHL fans? As far as I can see, Iginla brings something that you certainly dont. seat sales. how many times does a dallas starts game sell out? not that many. calgary games sell out very often. very, very often. Know why? because of stars like Iginla who are exciting to watch, lead the team well, and are well liked by the fans. Now before you go off spouting your ideals as to how the game should be marketed, maybe take a look around. seems like teams like the flames and guys like iginla aren't the problem with marketing. they seem to be doing just fine. your team evidently isnt. wonder why.
