After Iron Maiden, Metallica were the band that guided me through my teenage years and were the first band I ever saw (way back in '88). Despite their myriad faults, Metallica were a major force in breaking down barriers for Metal to become more acceptable (if only by the mainstream). Whether this was for the better, is open to debate.
