Check out Lisa Gerrard. Was the vocalist for the sublime Dead Can Dance and has also had an extensive solo career. Some may know her as the voice for the Gladiator soundtrack but that would be doing her an extreme disservice to base her career on that work alone. Her most recent album is as a vocalist for Klaus Schulze of Krautrock fame on his last release. Badly underrated and even under appreciated. I caught Lisa live about 18 months ago and was left spellbound by her vocal delivery and depth. I have memories of reading that she had a 5 octave range.
