The Pixies are an indie staple. If in your experience "indie kids" don't know the Pixies, then your experience is atypical.
Mudhoney is also a pretty name-checked band, as a proto-grunge band, like Sonic Youth. Most indieheads like Nirvana and Mudhoney and love Sonic Youth.
So, really, your entry doesn't seem to connect with reality at all. And it's not very well-written. Rants have to be amusingly written to be at all interesting.
