1.The Melvins - The Talking Horse
This song is my favourate of the Melvins, and indeed my favourate of all time! It's mixture of riffs and Dale's amazing drumming make it a great track. The music video is great, too.
2.The Pixies - Where Is My Mind?
This song is probably the band's anthem. The band who created 'loud, quiet, loud' and have influenced so many important bands, this song just makes me happy and I love it so much my band are recording it on the 12th of September.
3.Nirvana - Love Buzz
This song got me into alternative music, which is now the biggest thing in my life musically. Krist's bassline and Kurt's playing with Chad's drumming make this cover one hell of a song!
4.Israel "IZ" Kamakawiwo'ole - Somewhere Over the Rainbow/ Wonderful World
A song that everyone knows, but not the artist, who is a legend. This song cheers me up and drove me to learn to play Ukulele.
5.Creed - My Sacrifice
The band's anthemic song always brings a tear to my eye... this will be played at my funeral. This song epitomises emotion.
6.Screaming Trees - Butterfly
I can't put my finger on what makes this song appeal to me... it has inspired my lyric work and guitar work... this band, this song... amazing.
7.Dirty Bob - Point of No Return
They're a local band I went to see, bought their album. They've got so much talent. After seeing the guitarist work with so many effects pedals and make beautiful and catchy and hard rocking riffs, it inspired me to write the only solo with a wah pedal I've written and liked.
8.Alice in Chains - Down in a Hole
When I heard this song, I fell in love with the band and it has been a staple on my ipod ever since. Their music seems to fit every mood I'm ever in. All of their songs are amazing such as 'Here Come's The Rooster' and 'Them Bones'
9.Army of Freshmen - Juliet
This may seem out of place on this list, but I am a huge fan and friend of them, I even have a signed guitar from them! This song fits me so well. It's basically about a nerd fancying a girl who don't know about him. It's one of their anthemic songs. I love it. I also learned a lot about how to put on a show from their gigs.
10.Ozzy Osbourne - No More Tears
The first song I ever saw on kerrang! when I was about 7. Eleven years later, I've seen Zakk Wylde and Ozzy live and Ozzy still remains a huge influence of mine with all of his music from his Sabbath days through to his days now with Zakk Wylde, one of my favourate guitarists of all time. I've learned so much from them.
It was incredibly hard to write this list. I hope nobody disrespects me for it. Since it reflects my alternative background and is just a compilation of what I love.
