Trainer Greg Jackson seems to really have Liddell's number (he trained Rashad Evans, Rampage Jackson, and Keith Jardine, 3 of only 5 people to EVER beat Chuck Liddell).
It seems to me that Liddell has not evolved along with the sport that he has helped popularize. Throwing overhand hay-makers and sporting a mohawk can only get you so far. I don't understand why he doesn't utilize his wrestling. Liddell was an All-American at San Luis Obispo, but whens the last time he used his wrestling? A single-leg attempt on Wanderlei Silva? Maybe throwing wide punches and keeping your hands NOWHERE NEAR your face isnt the best fight plan, especially if your opponent throws a punch at you.
Evans earned a title shot, which nixed UFC's New Years end superfight between Liddell and Griffin (TUF1 coach vs. TUF1 winner). I think a main event of two TUF winners is a great thing for the UFC. TUF veterans are as close to 100% home-grown talent as an MMA organization can get, so this will speak wonders for their credibility.
