In a word ...YES
I don't go around listening to weird and obscure stuff just so I can win arguments on a forum , I do it because I enjoy music and want to hear as much different stuff as possible, and quite honestly if all you can do is listen to stuff thats on the radio , TV or only listen to stuff thats sold millions of albums then yes I do feel superior to you. I've made an effort to learn stuff , i've made an effort to find new things. You have the internet as well , there's no reason you can't find them either. Whether it be Chilean techno , Greenland hip hop , obscure Krautrock or post punk albums that never sold more than a couple of hundred copies , i've made an effort to find this stuff and if I find it more exciting , more innovative and just downright better than your alternative rock sh ite i'm going to f ucking say so.
You keep on kidding yourself that there are good things to be found on Stadium f ucking Arcadium and trying to convince others that this isn't the same sh it they've been churning out for over a decade, you keep on listening to that whiney slaphead Corgan desperately trying to relive past glories. And i'll be checking out more new stuff that you would never even think of looking for when your waiting for that new turd of a Pearl Jam album to drop. So f uck you , enjoy your morose 10 years out of date middle of the road 'alternative rock' and don't start whining when I call it for the out of date sh it it is.

Well I disagree with this one too, I mean I do think it's an annoying trait when people shove the fact that they listen to the most obscure music down other peoples throats and especially when they think they have superior taste because of it.
Just because I still like RHCP and Smashing Pumpkins dosen't mean I'm like those stubborn classic rock junkies who are reluctant to seek out new music. I've recently gotten into bands like Battles and Boris and I'm pretty glad I did. I may be a classic rock/proggie first and foremost, but that dosen't mean I'm gonna write off anything just because it's Indie either.
