64 : Scenes
It doesn't matter which part of the world it happens in and when it happens. It's always the same thing. Whether it's Merseybeat in Liverpool in the 60s , Punk in London in the 70s , Bay Area Thrash in the 80s , Britpop in Camden or Grunge in Seattle in the 90s the same thing happens every single time.
One or two good bands get a bit of momentum behind them and then all of a sudden about 100 sh
it bands copying them suddenly appear from nowhere. And the worst thing is that these anonymous f
uckwits without a single original idea ALWAYS get signed by some dumb label trying to make a quick buck. Of course they all get dropped after one album , sometimes two but they still spend the next 10/15 years or so stinking up the music industry refusing to die (Pearl Jam , 17 years and counting ... Oh yes , you have an entry all to yourselves and boy is it going to be a f
ucking long one).
And you can bet when one of these scenes pops up in a city the next time you go there it'll be full of scruffy youths and japanese tourists looking for THAT pub where THAT guy in THAT band drinks in.
