I think/hope i have explained in earlier posts why this is NOT British hip hop... well most of the time.
To be honest the scene feels a bit desperate now, like dogs fighting for the last scraps of meat. The meat of mainstream recognition, probably something like processed turkey slices.
Grime peaked in 2004. It was the sets man. That underground lineage of MC culture in the UK- from ragga jungle to garage... getting da shoogz moving. Etc.
Anyway here's a more recent set I have knocking about on mediafire, it's Dizzee Rascal and D Double E (from Dizz's label and pirate legends in their own right, Newham Generals - their album has been 'in progress' since the aforementioned golden days, kind of depressing).
Kool FM Jungle set ft.Rascal, Skibadee, DEE and Fun.rar
They're guesting on a special old skool jungle set on Kool FM with established drum n' bass MC's Skibadee and Fun (yes you read correctly). These guys just kind of stand back and take the piss whenever the grime guys fall behind!
From what I remember it's an amazing set - Raskit can genuinely spit over any kind of beat and just kill it.
Incase there's anybody wondering what the hell 'jungle' is: just early drum n' bass - breakbeat with the melody carried on the bass, danceable as ****. Takes you back about 14 years to better times...
