to compare Modest Mouse to Built to Spill or Pixies is a bit unfair. they may be influenced by both, but have a very unique sound, nonetheless. furthermore, I would argue that MM are better songwriters and musicians than BTS or Pixies.
if you like MM, I'd recommend Foals. they sound like a dance-punk'd MM
