It's just ****ing stupid. You can turn around and wave your ass around in the goalie's face all you want, you can even skate into him at full speed and jam the puck in from underneath his pads and not be penalized, but facing him and waving your stick around is a huge deal? Give me a break. You can't pick and choose like that. "Oh, ****ing with the goalie like this is wrong, but ****ing with him like that is okay." It just further illustrates how inconsistent and nonsensical the "new" NHL's rules are.

Uhmm, people used to dump the puck over the glass to stop play and get a change..thats why that is out. The goalie's restricted area is for the fans, it keeps the game at a faster pace. You can't get your stick up above someone's waste because how is a reff to know right away whether you're slightly holding them back or not. Why doesnt a defensive player need to put his stick up on someone's waste anyways..doesn't do anything positive. And yea you can put your as
s in a goalie's face because you are in a direct play with the puck looking for a deflection. Sean Avery had not a clue what was happening behind him, he was being a nuisance and thats all. And you know that you can't just run over a goalie because thats goalie interference. As for jamming a puck in..1. I dont see how thats all at all relevant, 2. Of course you can do that because the puck is in play until the goalie has covered it and the whistle is blown.
