When punk started it was basically pop-punk (this is what I've been saying all along but you seem completely unable to grasp this concept and keep making me repeat myself its getting ridiculous) throughout the 80s band like the Dead Kennedys and stuff furthered it away from that pop-sound but basically it started out as pop-punk.
