Eh, that's exactly what type of band Muse are. Their albums consist of a number of tracks that are obviously not commercially oriented at all - they form the majority of the band's output - and then, typically three or four tracks intended as successful radio hits, which are written in an ordinary pop format. This was even more obvious on the albums preceding Black Holes & Revs. Anybody who's actually listened to this band are well aware of that.
This differs from straightforward pop/rock acts, like say, Arctic Monkeys. Such bands are focused on writing music with a commercially viable sound all the way, the difference between the hits and the album tracks merely lying in the hits containing the stronger hooks - but crucially NOT a difference in actual song format.
I don't actually like Muse and never have. But to claim that their overall aims and musical vision can be subsumed purely under "pop/rock" is many marks off the truth.
