I'm not quite 17...but i started at the age of 4 on piano and until about 6th grade i only listened to classical music (which was what i was playing)
in 7th grade i discovered Green Day and Blink-182...and gradually began to start liking alternative crap. once 9th grade hit i switched schools and lost all my friends, so i started getting into emo and so called "hardcore" stuff, but by the end of the year i was listening to Jackson Browne and Paul Simon.

Now however I listen to everything except alternative, rap, disco, and emo hardcore stuff. I like some deathmetal, like Amon Amarth, i like progrock, classic metal, and rock and rockablily in general. Jazz is always really fun to listen to and get into, but my favorite by far is Blues, especially The Allman Brothers Band. The one thing i must say about my tastes is i tend to dislike overrated songs that everyone makes a huge deal over but i find boring. Stairway To Heaven and Freebird would be prime examples. I also tend to dislike most overrated bands excluding classic rock bands (like the beatles) and a couple other bands that are overrated for a good reason. I also dislike most music now, because it lacks so much musicality i cant stand it. I'm sorry, but playing 3 powerchords and singing with a not so great voice with no changeups in the song and just a crapload of distortion to make it sound cooler does not appeal to me.
