My thoughts on Jackhammers funk comp.....
1.Kay Gees-Let's Groove
I was bobbing my head 3 seconds into this , nice horns , nice female backing vocals , cool as f
uck bassline , ticks off all my funk boxes. Some lead vocals would have just been the icing on the cake though.
2.Backyard Heavies-Chitlin' Strut
Nice groove but I felt it was a little bit on the bland side for an instrumental.
3.Sir Joe Quarterman & Free Soul-The Way I Do My Life
I'm a sucker for waca waca guitars

, this is going on my ipod.
4.The Notations-Superpeople
Nothing wrong with this track as such other than it made me want to go listen to Curtis Mayfield instead.
5.Scott Moody-(We Gotta) Bust Out Of The Ghetto Part 1
The best one yet for me , fantastic tune with a bit of social commentary to give it a little more substance , exactly the reason why I love Sly Stone so much .... nice.
6.Skull Snaps-It's A New Day
Thought it was a bit generic at first but once it had started to pick up I enjoyed it a lot more.By the end I loved it.
7.Dawson Smith-I Don't Know If I Can Make It (Part 1)
Pleasant, but didn't really do much for me
8.Rasputins Stash-The Devil Made Me Do It
Great song , if I was going to be really picky though i'd say it felt a little lightweight for a song with that title. I was hoping for something a little dirtier or nastier.
9.Johnny Taylor-Aint Gonna Bump No More (With No Big Fat Woman)
The only song here i've already heard & like Jackhammer I love it.
10.The Crusaders-Stomp and Buck Dance
Pure blaxploitation movie soundtrack , and I f
ucking loved it.
11.Undisputed Truth-Got To Get My Hands On Some Lovin'
This is how funk rock
SHOULD sound.
Are you listening to this Red Hot Chili Peppers ??
In summing up , great comp. Although there were songs I liked more than others I didn't hate anything and only skipped one song before it got to the end of it. And that was more because I wanted to hear what was next rather than not liking the track.
Vol 2 please Mr Jackhammer.
