Rock in general is emotionless compared to many neoclassical composers or even many Jazz artists. Don't get me wrong. I listen to rock/metal/prog all the time, but for the soul reason that it is catchy. The OP said that Dream Theater is emotionless and just full of catchy guitar parts which is the sole reason it's listened too. He's right, but all rock is just catchy and not emotional is what I'm saying.
