I don't like these massive generalisations that the papers pick up on. It's a different genre every week.

Metal does have a reputation for getting people worked up but in many cases that's the nature of the music. And it's not the music that's making people violent; naturally violent people will be drawn to music that makes them feel more powerful and metal does this for a lot of people.

Ah, old people and their moans about us listening to metal...
