Alright, these guys are solid. They got a little Neil Young\America sound to them especially in the song "West Falls" GREAT song.
I have these three praises for Okkervil River
1. Great range of influence (They seem to just play what they want to hear, I love that)
2. Outstanding\Interesting Lyrics I was reaching for lyrics search within seconds of each cut.
3. They follow Occams Razor. In other words they understand simple works, no over production, just their instruments and their inspiration again I dig that.
In the spirit of fairness I'd offer the following complaints as well
1. Poor song structure. Most of their songs struggle to transition from movement to movement as smoothly more polished acts in the genre.
2. Singers range is limited; not a bad singer, just limited. A lot of songs sound the same once he starts singing, I like the harmonizing a lot though.
This is the kind of band that could grow on me, Nice compilation, I'll buy an album and give it a try.
