Do Not Climb The Stairs, Open Your Mouth
"Do Not Climb The Stairs, Open Your Mouth"
Feet of children sprint up a winding stair
That curls around their heads like wind-swept hair
Pinnacle of light coming from a chandelier
As darkness recedes stairs find echoes
Darting eyes lift to the rafters and
Place children on the roof with a helping hand
Destination comes in the reverse frame of existence
Ethereal dream-state conquering consciousness
Falling back up to the closed door
Tumbling into a tumult of shouts resounding in the hardwood floor
Many things have come and gone
All except this staircase on which we are stuck
Peace be told when animosity has perished
Many wait until old age for life to be cherished
Viscous thoughts clog the mind for far too long
So many muscles required for words to flow through the mouth
