Though it may be sad, it is a fact today. In the '92 presidential race, MTV played a huge role. The "Rock The Vote" idea got young people into the voting booth. Many political anylists(sp) believe that MTV won the vote for Clinton. George H. W. Bush did not take America's youth seriously and more or less ignored them. Clinton on the other hand made speeches aimed directly at younger voters. He made an effort to at least act as though he cared about thier opinion. That was what the whole "I never inhaled" thing was all about. Admiting that he had even tried drugs would have lost the election had it not been for the young vote. He said that in an attempt to relate to younger people. MTV convinced America's youth that it was "cool" to vote, where that effort was never made before.
