Yeah, but just because you don't like them doesn't automatically mean they suck you know. The reason so many of these bands are around for so long is that lots and LOTS of people DO like them. Sure there are people who buy their cd's to fit in with the new cool thing, but there's probably an equivalent number of people who buy the latest fashionable indie cd's for the same reason.
