If you mean by "Motown Lite" that the track 'I Don't Like To Lose' is a lightweight, sugary tune, then I beg to differ.
Where in Motown is a song dedicated to a man hellbent on winning at all costs?
If you mean the tempo isn't as upbeat as some Northern Soul tracks, then you'd be correct.

Northern Soul doesn't limit itself to the smaller independent labels, in fact quite a lot the music played on the Northern Soul scene also comes from the big Motown labels. The criteria being that the tune is danceable to suit Northern tastes.
These discarded 'Motown' tracks (Motown produced so much material, that the songs released by them and went on to become successful hits, only represent the tip of a very large iceberg) were salvaged from the archives and given new life in England...the true home of soul.

If I'm wide of the mark in interpreting your post, please enlighten me.
