A couple more that I just thought of, both of which I saw at the same club that I saw Bowie, were Johnny Cash and Soundgarden. There was a winter blizzard on the night of the Johnny Cash show and it was already snowing when I started driving to the show. I got within 5 miles of the venue and the snow was coming down so hard that I decided to park at the nearest subway station and take a train the rest of the way. When I got to the venue, the tour bus was parked outside so I knew the show wouldn't be cancelled. I figured a lot of people would probably stay home and the show would be sparsely attended but by the time the show started the place was packed. I think everyone who bought a ticket showed up despite the blizzard.
The Soundgarden show is memorable because it was just before they became hugely popular and made it big and started playing large venues like arenas and stadiums.
