Frownland has been a genuine friend to me on MB, but I can see that making the individual choice to perma-ban a member who you are arguing with at a co-equal, member-to-member, level is a super-bad move. Is that what happened?
To preserve the reputation of fair modding, I think mods should follow the example (set for years and only recently abandoned) of the US Supreme Court: that there should never be even the appearance of a lack of impartiality.
In this particular case, I'd suggest the mods should decide in the mod cave about the ban: take a vote there and announce the majority decision. Of course, that would mean some time and trouble for the mods, which perhaps they don't feel inclined to go to, what with all the thankless spam-blocking they are already doing for us.
