Biden today said

Or am I just completely misinformed? This is surely the sort of thing the Republicans will point to in the run-up to November, screaming about a wall again (though that would not have stopped a supposedly legitimate truck crossing the border). Nevertheless, Trump's foaming rhetoric about Mexicans is bound to re-enter the conversation, no?
Point taken.
If I can shift the focus a little though. In these discussions little is said about the appalling conditions people have to live under in many Sth American nations. History tells us that part of the reason for this is a long history of America treating them as pieces on a chessboard to be moved around without being consulted. In some ways the crisis now flooding over the Mexican border is of the US’s making. My suspicion the situation will open a window for China to step in with a Sth American version of ‘Belts & Roads’.
