However, vaccinated people by and large still transmit the disease. This means there's an endless amount of viruses still in circulation which makes it inevitable that new mutations will arise, presenting a never-ending source of new challenges.

The protection provided by the current generation of vaccines quickly wanes in the months following the shots. My current guess is that we're gonna have to keep some measures in place for a long ass time and probably get yearly vaccine doses for the next X number of years. We might be looking at double digits.
