So today there was yet another instance in the boring drama of me trying to wear a cordless headphone at work so I can listen to podcasts and the Dead Kennedys. The **** I've hated for years who's performatively told me that of course she doesn't care if I wear it while then snitching on me to higher bosses so they'll tell me to take it out again snitched on me and the store manager told me to take it out. This time I just flat out told them no. They didn't particularly appreciate this and tried confronting me and I just stonewalled them.

So they left me to my devices for awhile but eventually the store manager took me aside cause she's actually a decent human being who knows how to talk to people and was giving it an hour to calm down before trying to ask nicely if I could just take it out cause it could potentially be a problem if a higher up saw it and now other employees are trying to wear headphones cause they see me doing it. But I'm having none of it cause it's not a real problem and my boss isn't a **** like the other one is and is willing to listen to my arguments and doesn't really want to cause a big thing over a cordless headphone that doesn't cause any actual problems but she's just sorta hoping that I cave without too much fuss.

Eventually she just kinda sighs and doesn't want to make an ultimatum and lets me keep it in saying she'll "Think about it". And then she tells me she's giving me a big raise.

So moral of the story is just be an obstinant jerk and you'll get your way and get paid.
