I don't think they'll become a state anyway cause 1) half the people there don't want it and 2) they're brown so a lot of people here won't want it regardless of their politics. Plus the crime rate down there is through the roof... Not something we would be too eager to have to try to tackle. We already have Chicago and Baltimore and we can't even solve the gang problems in our own cities.
