It wasn't with me bragging about my success in life, it was with you bragging about being such a "functional" alcoholic.
I merely pointed out the obvious fact that you live with your mom so it's pretty easy to be functional when you don't have to pay your own way. FTR I was also functional whenever I lived with my parent(s)
