It turned out I learned a bit about this through my therapy recently. I was driving a scenic route that goes from sea views and then about ten miles in through a forest of evergreens. My AC is broken but my car runs and I got to drive sometimes even though I don’t like going out. Maybe because I’ve been inside for so long but the nature was stunning. The colors were crushing and huge rains hit cooling everything like a million dollar swamp cooler. But my anxiety and depression were also pressing down hard on me. And for a long time when anxiety strikes hard I can’t enjoy things like tall trees and clouds and amazing skies. But I just told myself look you CAN be anxious and enjoy the beauty of nature at the same time. Part of your brain maybe won’t quit with the painful stuff but another part can say goddamn that’s beautiful.
All organism have to interact with their environment. Some of those interactions are glorious and others are devastating but they all hold the beauty of nature. Even Dee Dee Ramone wrote “I believe in miracles because I’m one.”
I used to be on an endless run.
Believe in miracles 'cause I'm one.
I have been blessed with the power to survive.
After all these years I'm still alive.
I'm out here kickin' with the band.
I am no longer a solitary man.
Every day my time runs out.
Lived like a fool, that's what I was about, oh
I believe in miracles.
I believe in a better world for me and you.
Oh, I believe in miracles.
I believe in a better world for me and you.
Tattooed your name on my arm.
I always said my girl's a good luck charm.
If she can find a reason to forgive,
Then I can find a reason to live.
I used to be on an endless run.
Believe in miracles 'cause I'm one.
I have been blessed with the power to survive.
After all these years I'm still alive.
I believe in miracles.
I believe in a better world for me and you.
Oh, I believe in miracles.
I believe in a better world for me and you.
I close my eyes and think how it might be.
The future's here today.
It's not too late.
It's not too late, yeah!
I believe in miracles.
I believe in a better world for me and you.
Oh, I believe in miracles.
I believe in a better world for me and you.
Even if you’re 100% atheist it’s still a miracle that there’s something instead of nothing. And you are something. And Dee Dee told us that’s a good thing.
