^ I love that old cover! I read his book Being There when I was a student, but Painted Bird looks a lot more interesting to me.

^ Yes, tbh when I expect to be reading more than usual, as is the case at the moment, I would def choose something lighter. My current easy-to-read book is:-

A young history scholar in the 1980s retraces the journey of Marco Polo, from Jerusalem to Peking. It's packed with fascinatiing travel stories, plus history, so an ideal combination to me. It's prob the third time I've read it - but hey, that's the upside to alzheimers: it always feels like the first time
