Despite the naive hopes of Susan Collins, the lesson that Trump has recently learned is that the GOP will defend anything he does and that Congress will never remove him from office. So now, with the connivance of Barr's DOJ, he's following through with the reprisals and politically-motivated investigations that Schiff and others warned us of. Latest move is to go easy on Roger Stone, who was found guilty of lying under oath, obstruction of Congress and threatening a witness with bodily harm.
To me, the unbelievable bit is that no-one seems to be criticizing the four prosecutors who have resigned in protest. Is this how we address conflict these days? Walk away and let some player for the opposing team take our place on the field? I don't remember that being the attitude during WWII, but maybe I missed the headline:-
