yes, but very little of that had anything to do with music. They marketed the sh*t out of their image, and that was it. That was their thing, if you actually look at the music itself, it's quite monontonous, one-dimensional, boring even. without their pyrotecnics, funny makeup, and over the top costumes, they wouldn't have been famous. They came around at the right time, people were looking to latch on to huge pop culture phenomenons, looking to join in the "experience" of going to a show, something that was started in large part by the stones. Their image is the sole reason they were so successful, that and luck that they came around at the right time.
