On the topic of animal noises, some are soothing, others not. The sound of cows mooing is nice, but I really hate barking dogs. Unfortunately, in a Mexican city you never hear cows, but boy do people have a lot of noisy dogs!

There's someone in my neighborhood that lives about a quarter mile from me, with a dog that starts barking as soon as they let it out of the house and keeps barking incessantly until it's let back inside. It doesn't matter how long it's outside, (even a couple of hours or more) the dog will bark nonstop.
They're just far enough away from me that it's noticeable but not terribly annoying, though.
I feel sorry for the neighbors that live closer than I do.
