My hard limit for how much I can listen to is probably much smaller than yours too. I don't listen to music 24/7, but more like 1-3 hours per day on average. Also revisiting the same albums a lot, so if one does the math, I should probably not own too far over 1.000 albums on CD and vinyl if I don't want albums to sit on the shelf for years without getting any time in the stereo.
