Dwelling on past mistakes is extremely unhealthy because it brings on a downward cycle of self loathing. It's vastly different than reflecting on them, learning from them and forgiving yourself.
You don't have to tell me the difference between a peepee toucher and a feely toucher. It's obviously not that hard when it's the first girl he met at the goth club. For all he knows girls like that are a dime a dozen and if you want to be honest I'm sure plenty of girls that are into that culture reflect the same elitist attitude as him.
